The client wanted to make a highly sustainable project. The goals were to make a tight and highly insulated exterior and pursue WELL certification. During the construction process ownership decided not to complete the WELL process due to its cost but it was design with those guidelines. It did receive certification from Green Built Homes and Focus on Energy.

Part of sustainability is a focus on human health. The circulation in the building is designed to promote health and community among the residents. The main communicating staircase opens directly to the lobby entrance in order to encourage residents to take the stairs instead of the elevator, which is tucked out of sight. The stairwell’s large glass wall fills the space with light and provides ample views of the surrounding streetscape. The twisting cable structure in the main stair turns it into a place of interest.
